Accessibility Basics for Government Websites
28 August 2025 5 min read
Public-facing government sites carry a higher accessibility bar than most commercial websites, since they're often a citizen's only channel to a mandatory service — and most institutional sites we've audited fall short of even basic standards.
The most common gaps are simple to fix once identified: missing alt text on informational images, color contrast that fails for low-vision users, and forms that can't be completed using a keyboard alone.
We run an accessibility pass as a standard part of every web build now, rather than treating it as an optional add-on requested late in a project.
