Cross-Platform vs Native: A Field Report

React Native and Flutter cover the majority of the mobile projects we take on now, and the productivity gain from a single codebase across iOS and Android is hard to justify giving up without a specific reason.
A few project types still push us back to native: anything with heavy background processing, deep hardware integration, or performance-critical rendering tends to surface friction in cross-platform frameworks that isn't worth fighting.
Our default is cross-platform unless a specific technical requirement rules it out — not the reverse.
